Conference Description

ANET is a network for people from research institutes, consultancies, government, NGOs and community groups who are interested in road and linear infrastructure ecology. The conference includes talks, field trips and the opportunity to network with industry, government and research professionals from Australasia and across the globe.

The conference aims to provide practical tools that we can take away and apply every day to design, build and manage environmentally-friendly linear infrastructure. With that in mind, the topics covered will range from incorporating research and monitoring into infrastructure design, designing offsets and mitigation and the opportunities and challenges facing road agencies and construction teams. Plenary speakers include Professor John Altringham, from the University of Leeds in the UK, and Professor Andrew Bennett, from Deakin University Melbourne.

On the conference field trip we will visit sites along the Pacific Highway that demonstrate the evolution in best-practice road planning, design and mitigation in New South Wales and Australia, including fencing, underpasses, landbridges, glider poles, and canopy bridges.

We will be accepting proposals for oral and poster presentations, and symposia. Symposia proposals are due on 15th March and presentation abstracts are due on 15th April.
